PPS – Polyphenylensulfide

High-Temperature and Chemical-Resistant Material for Precision Components

Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) is a semi-crystalline high-performance plastic with exceptional thermal and chemical resistance. The material can be used continuously at temperatures of approximately 200–240°C (392–464°F) without significant loss of its mechanical properties.

PPS is characterized by its excellent dimensional stability. Due to its low coefficient of thermal expansion and minimal moisture absorption, the material maintains tight dimensional tolerances even when exposed to elevated temperatures and aggressive media.

Another key advantage is its outstanding resistance to chemicals, including acids, alkalis, fuels, and solvents. In addition, PPS offers good electrical insulating properties and is inherently flame retardant.

This unique combination of properties makes PPS a preferred material for highly demanding engineering

Applications of PPS:

PPS is specifically used in industrial applications where high temperatures, aggressive chemicals, and mechanical loads occur simultaneously. The material is commonly found in under-the-hood automotive components, electronic components, and chemical processing equipment.

Typical application areas:

  • High-Temperature Engineering Components for Machinery and Equipment Engineering
  • Under-the-Hood Components for the Automotive Industry
  • Electrical Connectors and Precision Housings for Electrical Engineering Applications
  • Components for Chemically Aggressive Processing Equipment

Properties of PSU at a glance:

  • High Continuous Service Temperature up to Approximately 240°C (464°F)
  • Good chemical resistance
  • Outstanding Dimensional Stability
  • Good electric isolation
  • High strength, stiffness, and hardness
  • Good mecanical properties
  • Low Moisture Absorption
  • Excellent Dimensional Stability
  • High Weather Resistance and Radiation Resistance
