For highly loaded components, the base body can be made of metal (stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, etc.). Using the fluidized-bed coating process, a plastic coating up to 1 mm thick can be applied and subsequently machined. This allows tight tolerances (down to IT7) to be achieved for use as clearance seals or guide surfaces.
The coating can serve as a tribologically effective plain bearing, as corrosion protection, or as a non-stick sliding surface and is also approved for use in food and pharmaceutical applications.
Complex base geometries (valve plugs) or delicate components (e.g., level probes) can be coated without any difficulty. Areas that must remain uncoated, such as threads and contact surfaces, can be accommodated.
Depending on whether impact or wear resistance is required, or whether thermal or chemical resistance is the primary consideration, we have the appropriate coating material for each application. Common plastics include Halar® (ECTFE), PEEK, and Rilsan® (PA 11).
Due to increased awareness, PFAS-free plastic coatings are currently the preferred choice.
