MOCA Declaration of Conformity

Declaration for Materials and Articles Intended for Food Contact Use

The glass-and-fork symbol, introduced by Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004, identifies materials and articles intended for food contact (MOCA) that, under their intended conditions of use, do not transfer substances to food in quantities that could endanger human health. It indicates that the product is suitable for food contact and complies with the applicable food safety requirements.

Materials intended for food contact must comply with strict regulatory requirements to ensure consumer safety.

bock machining gmbh supports its customers in selecting suitable materials for applications involving contact with food and beverages and, where required, provides the corresponding declaration of compliance documentation.

Our technical department is available as early as the planning phase to evaluate the regulatory requirements of the respective application and determine the optimal solution for the customer's specific requirements.

MOCA is the abbreviation for the Italian term "Materiali a contatto con gli alimenti" ("materials and articles intended to come into contact with food") and includes all materials and articles that are intended to come into direct or indirect contact with food and beverages.

The regulations applicable to MOCA are intended to ensure that these materials do not transfer substances to food in quantities that could:

  • Endanger consumer health,
  • Alter the composition of the food,
  • Adversely affect its odor, taste, or other organoleptic properties.

Materials and articles intended to come into contact with food are subject to specific European and national regulations, including:

  • Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004;
  • Regulation (EC) No. 2023/2006 on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP);
  • Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, where applicable.

Upon request, we manufacture components from materials that comply with the most important European and international regulations for food contact products.

The Declarations of Conformity issued by bock machining gmbh are based on the technical documentation of the materials used, as well as on the evaluations performed with regard to the intended application. In doing so, the applicable legal requirements and the confidentiality of technical and commercial information are taken into account.

Prepared in accordance with the applicable regulations, in particular:

  • Verordnung (EG) Nr. 1935/2004;
  • Regulation (EC) No. 2023/2006 on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP);
  • Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, where applicable;

Other relevant national or international regulations, where applicable.

  • Technical data sheets for the materials used;
  • Available evidence of material compliance and suitability for the intended application;
  • Additional technical documentation, where available and applicable.

Upon request, bock machining gmbh supports its customers by providing available technical information for the preparation of FORM-O. This document is commonly used within the food supply chain to collect and communicate information on materials and articles intended for food contact (MOCA).

Depending on the material used and the specific application, we provide the available technical documentation and the corresponding declarationsof compliance. In doing so, we observe the applicable regulatory requirements, maintain the confidentiality of technical and commercial information, and comply with existing agreements with our suppliers.

The objective is to facilitate the exchange of information required for compliance assessment throughout the supply chain. However, the final evaluation of a material's suitability for its intended use remains the responsibility of the user and the relevant functions within their organization.

Support for U.S. Exports and UL Certifications

Our components are ideally suited for international markets. Throughout the supply chain, we provide the required documentation for MOCA compliance (Europe) as well as compliance with FDA regulations (United States).

  • Protection of Know-How and Confidentiality: We understand the importance of protecting industrial and trade secrets. If the completion of Form O or the disclosure of confidential technical information is required as part of the certification of your machine, we apply a process that ensures the confidentiality of such information.
  • Direct Submission to UL Solutions or Other Certification Bodies: Where possible and subject to prior coordination with all parties involved, we coordinate the provision of technical documentation within our scope of responsibility. If required, we work with our suppliers to determine the most appropriate method of information sharing, taking into account confidentiality requirements, the specifications of the respective certification body, and the willingness of all parties involved to cooperate.

In this way, we provide our customers with reliable support throughout the certification process while helping to protect the know-how and confidential information of all parties involved.
