Flushing pistons that are propelled through hose lines are called “pigs.” They provide clean separation between the preceding paint and the solvent, air, or subsequent paint. This results in extremely short paint changeover times in automated systems, minimal paint waste, minimal solvent consumption, and excellent process quality.
Rubber pigs often reach their limits at high travel speeds (they can literally “burn up”) and when exposed to aggressive solvents requiring high chemical resistance. For this reason, hard pigs made of Enduflon P1 are increasingly being used. They are available with an embedded magnet or steel core. This allows these complete pistons to be detected at the pig station and the resulting signal to be used for system control.
We supply the pigs according to customer requirements, preloaded in containers, with north-south polarity markings on the magnet, or with insertion aids.
