CNC manufacturing of plastic components according to drawing

Machining plastics presents major challenges for most conventional machine shops. The challenges are diverse: stresses within the semi-finished material can lead to dimensional changes after machining. To achieve the frequently required smooth surface finishes, special cutting geometries are necessary; standard indexable inserts are generally unsuitable. The cutting data and machining cycles commonly used in metalworking are also unsuitable. Chip removal causes major problems for most machinists and machine tools, and the required tolerances often cannot be maintained using the standard processes applied in metalworking. Even commonly used CAD/CAM programs frequently lack the specialized CNC cycles required for plastic machining.

Through many years of experience in turning and turn-milling polymers, we have developed expertise that is leading in this field. For demanding manufacturing processes, we use, among other equipment, specially modified twin-turret turning machines with driven tools as well as main and sub-spindles. We continuously advance the automation and customized configuration of our machines through in-house developments.
This has resulted in a wide range of strengths:

  • Manufacturing of complex components in a single setup
  • Machining of extremely small geometries down to D = 2 mm
  • High-precision multi-axis turn-milling
  • Smooth surface finishes below Rz 2.5
  • Extremely tight tolerances (up to IT 7, depending on the material)
  • Bar machining
  • Simultaneous two-sided machining
  • Vacuum clamping of ultra-thin components (e.g., membranes with wall thicknesses down to 0.2 mm)
  • CNC machining of UHMW-PE, PET, PPS, PEEK, PEI, PES, etc.

In addition, our motivated team can offer you the following services:

  • Consulting regarding the selection of the appropriate plastic material
  • Material and component testing
  • Cost-effective series production, including volumes of several hundred thousand parts
  • Strong administrative support from sales, engineering and order processing
  • Assembly of customer-supplied or internally procured components
  • Laser marking, packaging, labeling and logistics according to customer requirements

For economic reasons, we are less suitable for:

  • Easy geometrics and requirements
  • Standard materials such as PVC und PP
  • Single parts
  • High-volume production parts
